A three-tiered garden system allows greenery to permeate every corner of this hospital—from six expansive courtyards to more than thirty light wells, down to a touch of green at every window. Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital is not only a medical sanctuary in the heart of a bustling city but also an open healing garden for all citizens. In 2013, its design won the WAN (World Architecture News) Healthcare Design Award, making it the only project in China to receive this recognition.
